When myself and Jodie from the Friends of Kororoit Creek attended the VEFN AGM in 2022, we rocked up not only because we were keen to attend but also because we had a project that seemed daunting and insurmountable and we were seeking guidance.
We piped up at the end of the meeting and asked the room for pointers and the wealth of information, advice and contacts that came forward was phenomenal. This feedback helped our project campaign greatly and made us realise how valuable it is to have a group like the VEFN – a network full of people who between them have probably had every ‘Friends Of’ experience under the sun.
It was so inspiring that I decided to join the committee to be part of this supportive hive-mind. I recommend to all ‘Friends Of’ groups to make contact with the VEFN or attend an event to make connections and share the load – as it is a bg load we volunteers carry and all help – helps!
