The purpose of this preamble is to ask the question: Does the Victorian Environment Friends Network need a new constitution?
Constitutions can be fraught things, though they don’t need to be. They need to answer some important questions about an organisation and our current situation requires that we reconsider and decide these core questions.
The current constitution was originally adopted in 1999 and minor amendments were made in 2007. A series of practices have been built up based on consensus and informality. Since then people and circumstances have changed. We need to ensure the network and its future operations are meaningful to its current membership and priorities.
