We are pleased that the Strengthening Parks review is being undertaken and hope the results will lead to substantial improvements to the operation and future of parks in this state, particularly those managed by Parks Victoria.
In this edition of FriendsNet we take a look at the value of preserving our parks. Did you know tourists spend $1.4 billion a year visiting Victoria's parks? After receiving more than 300 responses to our online survey and a well-attended strategy meeting in April it’s time to consider our new direction.
The new biodiversity strategy, Protecting Victoria's Environment – Biodiversity 2036, is to be commended for its ambition to reverse the continued loss of biodiversity in Victoria, as well as for recognising the historic and contemporary actions that are the cause.
